Avontuur Review
Avontuur was the second farm on the list and another beautiful setting and a very welcoming estate.
The restaurant next to the wine tasting area smelt divine and food looked fantastic.
We were there for the wines though and those did not disappoint whatsoever. Megan our host was very young but quite knowledgeable and when asked a question she did not have the answer for, proceeded to get the answer and offered that information with all of the next wines.
The red wines were really good in particular the Cabernet/Merlot blend and the Cabernet Franc was great.
The Above Royalty Natural Sweet Viognier 2017 was lovely but a little too sweet for me.
The Pinot Noire/Chardonnay was a hit with some of the team.
The final part of our tasting was the Private Collection 10 year old Pot-stilled Brandy and that did not disappoint whatsoever.
Avontuur is also known for their stud farm and the ambience was really good. If there were more than four people tasting we could not choose our individual wines and we all had to taste the same wine.
Pricing at R35.00 / person was very fair, and then as one of our team purchased wine, the tasting price was then waived for the whole party.
Overall perception and scoring 7/10.
Definitely a farm to visit.
