Brenaissance

Review: We arrived with a part of 7 at the farm and the hosts were very accommodating when we explained our quest.

The setting was very pretty and we decided to try their speciality which was a pizza and wine pairing.

The pizza was really tasty and the choice of wines that were paired with the pizza were refreshing and very cleverly named.

The Knight of White was a very smooth Butterscotch infused Chardonnay that paired with the Parma Ham Pizza was very refreshing.

The next pairing was the Lady H whose acidity cut through the caramelized onion, olives and feta and both worked well together.

The Queen of Hearts, which was a silky, smooth Merlot was enhanced by the sweet and savoury combo of biltong, avo and fig pizza.

The Lord T was the shiraz blend which was paired with the cajun chicken and spicy chorizo pizza. I am not really a fan of spicy food but the spice was not too hot and this pizza and wine combo worked.

Overall I was quite impressed with the pizza and wine blending but at a price of R185.00 per person I did think this was a little steep and not necessarily value for money.

The manager JP was quite entertaining when we explained our quest to him.

Posed for photos on request and overall was a good sport.

We wanted to taste one of their MCC wines but we were not allowed to do this as he explained the vines where this wine came from consisted of only seven rows and the wine quantities are limited. They were therefore not allowed to open the bottles to allow adhoc tasting. This did not deter Mandy and after much deliberation, she bought a bottle, which came with a specially designed box, explaining the history of the wine. As the first farm for the day Brenaissance set the expectation for the rest of the day.

My overall rating for the farm was a 4.5 as the pricing was a bit steep but otherwise the ambience, service, white and red wines and pizza were good.
